Biography

KONG Shengqi (KiKi) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, interactive installation and site-specific projects. Trained at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) and the Beaux-Arts de Paris (DNSAP with jury honours), she worked as an architect before devoting herself fully to her artistic practice in France.
Her work is rooted in a sensitive exploration of materials and gestures, often using raw wood, reclaimed materials and abandoned objects or tools. Informed by an animistic approach, she considers materials as living entities carrying memories, narratives and processes of transformation. Moving between human, animal and vegetal forms, her works intertwine ritual, myth, irony and poetry, creating dialogues between craft traditions, contemporary research and collective memory.
Her recent projects and residencies include Casa de Velázquez (Spain), Vent des Forêts (France), NAHR (Italy) and Tobichi Art Museum (Japan). In 2025, she received the Prix d’Encouragement in Sculpture from the Académie des beaux-arts, Institut de France.
