Sofia Fresia (Genoa, 1992) studied painting at the Accademia Albertina in Turin and currentl lives and works in the upper Bormida Valley, her hometown. A competitive swimmer and mountain enthusiast, she incorporates references to her own life experiences into her work to create a personal visual language through which she offers a perspective on the shared challenges of the present.
In 2019, she participated in an Erasmus+ exchange program at the École Supérieure d’Art in Grenoble, and in 2021 she presented her master’s thesis project “Surreality: The Unexpected Present,” which focused on the social changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
In recent years, she has participated in various residencies (including NAHR, VIR Viafarini-in-residence, Casa Walser, ALA, and Paratissima Factory), won art awards (including Arte Laguna, Combat, Candiani, and Nocivelli), and collaborated with companies and museums.
